Insights: A Lunchtime Chat With Basic Demographics Uses
So, a Market Researcher walks into a bar… a juice bar actually, it’s still early! Or if you’d like, a common place where business professionals like to go to fuel up on their lunch break. He makes his way to a nearby table where he overhears a Product Marketer, a Customer Service Rep, a Media Buyer, a PR Official, and a Senior Manager communally discussing a familiar topic: their use of Radian6 Social Insights.
Before he takes his first sip of a tall wheatgrass smoothie, because this is a familiar topic for the Market Researcher, he decides to give his two cents on the recent addition of Radian6 Social Insights and Basic Demographics:
“With Radian6 Basic Demographics, I’m able to find out real-time market information, and get focus-group type information on a much bigger scale at a fraction of the cost”
“I was able to isolate my brand mentions down to the age group and gender of my participating audience. All I had to do was select “Basic Demographics” from the Insights drop-down, and select “Gender”. Then I repeated the process with the new chart that had a male to female breakdown, this time selecting the female segment and clicking on the “Age” Insight within Basic Demographics. In four clicks, I was able to find out two crucial characteristics of my target audience”.
The PR Official’s eyes light up in excitement, as she hurries to pitch how she’s been using Basic Demographics:
“That’s how I’ve been using it too, but I went even further. I was able to take advantage of Basic Demographics by pairing my findings with Klout Insights. I wanted to find out how gender affected the most influential topics of conversation about my brand.”
“I simply did the same breakdown as you suggested with regards to gender; with this new Topic Analysis widget, I selected Klout “Topics” from each pie segment. What I ended up with was two widgets displaying each a list of influential topics. I was able to conclude that the majority of these topics had noticeable differences when comparing gender.”
Quick pause. Now, you’re probably wondering where the punch line is hidden in all of this. Fortunately, there isn’t one. These are just some of the ways Radian6 has brought you the power of Social Insights, and given you the ability to discover crucial information about content authors discussing your brand and/or products, applicable to Radian6 users throughout the enterprise.
Lastly, the Senior Manager jumps-in:
“This is amazing stuff guys, but what if we could link these demographics to mentions of people, places and things? I have a campaign happening next week, and I’d love to get this kind of information linked to common mentions around my brand; from cities, to organizations, to most discussed topics, among others.”
Stay tuned, friends, next week we talk OpenCalais…
