Dear Radian6: Can you help me become a Social Media Super Sleuth?
sleuth
n. – a detective who follows a trail
Dear Radian6,
Help! Someone just tweeted something negative about my brand – who do they think they are??
Dear User,
We can’t read minds, but we can at least give you some clues about who they might be based on their online presence. By definition, a detective is trying to obtain information not easily available to the public, but as a Radian6 user, you’ve got conversation context at your finger tips.
Yup, we’ve already done the legwork for you with “Social Profiles”. Simply click on the molecule icon to bring up a whole slew of other online places where that person may reside. Now that’s social sleuthing!
The Social Profile tool provides a list of known and possible accounts or connections that source has elsewhere in the social sphere: someone’s personal website or blog, social networking profiles like Facebook and LinkedIn, a YouTube video, perhaps a message board posting or an article written about them. Of course Radian6 takes privacy considerations seriously, so we won’t pull in information from private pages (like a Facebook profile set to anything other than viewable to everyone). Some possible connections may bring you to a dead end, but despite these limitations, the associations suggested within the Social Profile will prove invaluable in your strategic sleuthing.
Here’s how to follow the trail:
River of News
Click on the molecule icon to the left of the source link to open the Social Profile box.
Influencer Widget
Click on the molecule icon to the left of an influencer in any media-specific tab (Grid View) to open the same Social Profile box.
Engagement Console
Click on the @twitterhandle at the top of a tweet within the Engagement Console to open a new Profile stack. This stack consists of two tabs – Radian6 & Twitter.
The Radian6 tab not only lists the Social Profile you’d find in the River of News and Influencer widgets, it also displays any applied source tags, internal notes, and associated conversation histories from the topic profiles in the dropdown.
The Twitter tab provides details that contribute to the overall understanding of how active that person is on Twitter specifically. Find out the date they joined, total number of updates and a list of their latest tweets, how many people are following them, and how many people they follow. See their Twitter Bio, website, location and time zone (if provided), and follow or unfollow that person all without ever having to leave the Engagement Console itself.
This Profile stack can also be opened from a Twitter stack if you click on the display picture to activate the post, then go to the “media actions” dropdown in Workflow to view user profile.
Whether it’s positive or negative, when it comes time for the detective work involved in finding out who’s behind a post, let Radian6’s Social Profile help you connect the dots!
